Breathing techniques and a relaxed focus are based on a classical approach for optimum vocal health. These techniques are then applied to the styles of interest for the student – jazz, musical theatre, classical, gospel, pop and folk. Greta works with each student to create an individualized program. Musicianship, including phrasing, expression, and performance skills, are naturally incorporated.
Recitals occur twice a year, giving students the opportunity to develop their performance skills in a friendly and supportive environment. Greta also helps students prepare for additional performance opportunities, such as choral and musical theater auditions, music festivals, religious settings, weddings and open mics.
Vocal students are encouraged to integrate a modified study of keyboard to enhance musicianship and musical literacy.

Students also have opportunities to play in festivals and syllabus exams through OMTA.
Music theory & sight-reading
Those students unfamiliar with the piano are strongly encouraged to study basic keyboard as well. Greta is happy to communicate with classroom teachers in these areas if requested by the student.
Performance & presentation skills
We cover preparation, tips for on-stage, and tools for evaluation and reflection, using modeling, discussion, and video replay. While best in person, coaching via Skype is also available. Contact Greta for details.
