About Greta

Named 2009 National Artist of the Year by Young Audiences, Greta is a versatile performer and music educator.

She has appeared internationally in concerts, arts festivals, libraries, night clubs, and schools, as well as on radio and television, alongside luminaries as diverse as Jerry Garcia and Pete Seeger.

With her husband, Grammy-winning guitarist Mark Hanson, Greta performs a memorable mix of styles, including playful jazz, Americana, originals, classic rock and eclectic pop. Learn more about their performances together here.

Instruments

  • Voice, piano, guitar, mountain dulcimer and ukulele. She hopes to find time to learn how to play her hammered-dulcimer - stay tuned!

Curriculum design

  • Music Education Consultant for the University of Washington's Arts for Learning Design Team, Grade 5

  • Advisor for the national design team working in collaboration with Between the Lions®, the Emmy award-winning PBS children's series to develop literacy and arts based residencies

  • Lead teacher for the above program's first national pilot of the residency "Call It As You See It," and lead subsequent training workshops at the Young Audiences of Indiana Institute for Artful Learning

  • Curriculum developer for Oregon Public Broadcasting's online Oregon Art Beat in the Schools, creating lesson plans for grades K-8

About Accent on Music

 

Greta co-founded Accent On Music, LLC with Mark Hanson in 1985. Since then, they have published dozens of Mark's guitar instruction books and DVDs. Their second title, Art of Solo Fingerpicking, was included in the publication 50 Greatest Guitar Books. Mark's newest book, Travis Pick the Hits!, includes music by Sting, Cold Play, and Maroon Five.
